Farewell, Adieu, Toodle-oo…GOODBYE Polaroids!
Who doesn’t love the spontaneous snap and the rigorous fanning of the instant photo?
Just for the record, that’s a false statement: The image actually develops as a result of the chemical reaction. Fanning the photo doesn’t really make a difference with how quick the photo finishes. But who really cares, I still do it haha
The accessibility of the quick photo, and the enjoyment of passing the photos around at parties are sadly coming to a halt. Rumors of the discontinuation of Polaroid Film in 2009 are unfortunately true. I find it pretty depressing and quite dumb that this is happening. I’m bummed! If I understood this correctly, I’m assuming the consumers aren’t purchasing anymore Polaroid Film due to the discontinuation of the camera a while back? Also due to our tech-savvy world, where we are obsessed with the even more convenient photos produced by the digital camera the Polaroid company isn't racking any new buyers. This is quite an outrage, for 80 years striving photographers, amateur artists, would be able to retrieve their work in 3 minutes tops!
But hey, lets not mourn over this, Polaroid is coming up with an updated version of the classic with a nifty Polaroid Pogo. I’m actually fond of the little thing, this actually lets you share images from your mobile devices or camera and lets you print them instantly, 90 seconds to be exact.

But yeah, nothing beats the original. I will miss Polaroid Film dearly and will stock on the super expensive film… gosh that’s a definite thing I won’t miss… $16+ for a pack of 10 photos, $2 bucks per shot, deng. Besides the rape prices, I will miss the intimate, nostalgic, authentic, and the image boxed in by the classic white frame :]
